Swedish Experience

Galleri Långedrag, Västra Frölunda, Sweden
2013

Spending time at a residency at Konstepidemin in 2011 enabled Danelle to immerse herself in the Swedish landscape and create a series of paintings inspired by the stunning natural environment of the Nordic countries.

Acknowledging this as a pivotal point in the development of her artistic practice she used this period of time to explore her Swedish heritage and her concern for the fragile nature of our planet and how to protect it.

‘My landscape paintings are sensory memories - they are the way I understand the world and often a metaphor for human condition. I aim to spark a larger conversation about the ability of nature to act as a universal language.’
