Swedish Australian artist Danelle Bergstrom with the Emelia Foundation, coordinating an Open Day Musical Experience on Saturday 2 September at Åland Sjökvarteret, to celebrate the community-led shipbuilding project.

Trying to reconnect with her Swedish roots and grieving the death of her son, painter Danelle Bergstrom set sail for a remote Baltic island where she swapped her dry bush landscapes for seawater and new terrain. Discussing her dual life in Sweden and Hill End, Bergstrom details the life of an artist who lives and works overseas, her work often exploring the Swedish landscapes.

Danelle Bergstrom was featured on ABC's Landline in a segment produced by art documentarian Catherine Hunter.

Discussing her practice and the influence of the Hill End landscape on her work, Hunter interviewed Bergstrom at her Hill End studio while painting a series of works which formed part of her exhibition Entwined, on display at Arthouse Gallery in Sydney in March 2023.

Afterglow, at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, will be Swedish–Australian artist Danelle Bergstrom’s first career survey. The exhibition presents key works from the artist’s significant career across landscape and portraiture, including paintings made in the remote archipelago of Åland, where she now lives.
