Åland Post Stamp Collection

A recent stamp collaboration with Åland Post is featured in their new Yearbook, “A story through Åland stamps 2023.”

The book is filled with stamp art and stories from the past year including the stamp designed by Danelle Bergstrom.

It highlighted the Åland shipbuilding tradition and depicts the sailing yacht Alanta, a reconstruction of an Åland yacht from the early 1800s. At 14 metres long and 4 metres wide, the ship was built in the traditional way in pine using the clinker method, unique to the Nordic region, with roots that date back over 2,000 years. In December 2021, the tradition of building and sailing clinker boats was inscribed on UNESCO’s List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
